MCA Acquisition of The Marine Shop
After careful negotiations, the Marine Corps Association purchased The Marine Shop on Monday, 8 January 2007.
The following morning, MGen Les Palm, President/ Chief Executive Officer of MCA, led a large contingent of MCA staff down the block to the Marine Shop in order to welcome their staff to the Marine Corps Association family. Over celebratory cake and punch, General Palm cordially welcomed their staff and made mutual introductions between MCA and Marine Shop staff. General Palm stated enthusiastically that the Marine Shop was widely known throughout the Corps for providing great quality products and superior service and that they fit well with the Marine Corps Association's mission and philosophy. Further, he stated that all of MCA is very excited to join with the Marine Shop.
Colonel Walt Davis, USMC (Ret), newly slated to direct Marine Shop affairs, was on hand during the welcoming ceremony to assist with introductions and to provide brief facility tours. During the introductions, General Palm stated that Colonel Davis, posesses considerable retail experience and deep knowledge of MCA affairs from his 5 year tenure as MCA Chief Operating Officer and that the Marine Shop is very lucky to have him at the helm.
A very strategic move for both organizations, the purchase by MCA joins loyal customer bases from both organizations together, builds on mutual reputations for quality and takes advantage of proximity to build for the future.
