The Col Francis F. “Fox” Parry, USMC(Ret) Award

The Col Parry Award was established in October 2004 to recognize the best “combat initiative” article published in the Marine Corps Gazette over a 2-year period. To be considered for the award, the article’s author must have been a participant or a witness to initiative displayed by Marines in a combat zone. The article may relate to past wars or the present conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. The award is to be a check for $1,000 and an accompanying plaque commemorating the award. The winner will be selected by the Marine Corps Gazette editorial board.

The Gazette is pleased to announce that the editorial board has selected as the winner of the Col Francis "Fox " Parry Award for 2005-06, "Hill 881S and the Super Gaggle" by Col William H. "Bill" Dabney. His article was published in the April 2005 Marine Corps Gazette. This superb article on the innovative use of helicopters and fire support to resupply Marines during the battle of Khe Sanh may be accessed via our archives link.
