Recipient of the 2006 PFC Herbert A. Littleton Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Trophy for the Operational Communications Excellence
Staff Sergeant Richardson is a native of Lampasas, Texas, and graduated from
Lampasas High School in 1997. During 2006, she served as Staff Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (SNCOIC) of a Satellite Section, 9th Communication Battalion in support of I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward in combat operations in Iraq. As the SNCOIC of the Commanding General’s Jump Command Post, she was directly responsible for the overall 100% readiness of all personnel and communication assets. Her noteworthy network comprehension enabled SSgt Richardson to make quick and accurate decisions during troubleshooting, resulting in a total network availability of over 99% on three satellite communication systems. She drastically improved the condition of over $6 million in satellite and transmission equipment by creating a preventive maintenance Standard Operating Procedure, which had been neglected in the deployed environment. Staff Sergeant Richardson’s exceptional technical expertise and dynamic leadership directly contributed to the successful mission accomplishment of 9th Communication Battalion throughout the year-long deployment.
