The Marine Corps Association hosts seminars on topical issues of widespread importance throughout the year. In keeping with the original MCA mission to expand knowledge of military art and science for Marines, these seminars target the active duty community and are usually free of charge.
Another MCA educational event is the Defense Forum Washington, which most recently tackled the topic, “Implications of the Long War on Naval Expeditionary Capabilities and Forces.” This seminar, which was formerly known as the Sea Services Forum, consisted of several panel discussions, and featured a number of distinguished active duty guests, including ADM Edmund P. Giambastiani, Jr., USN, Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and GEN John P. Abizaid, USA, Commander, U.S. Central Command. The U.S. Naval Institute co-hosted the event.
